Let’s all end up there together
Food is really and truly the most effective medicine. Sri Lanka is a food basket with some of the most fertile land and food naturally occurring in abundance.
Nourishment is a very important part of your stay, we try to use locally sourced ingredients many of which are grown in our garden.
Fully Licensed Bar, beer on tap, great cocktails and wine from around the world.
Rooted in the Land. Served with Intention.
Flavour with Purpose
At Illuk by Halcyon Mawella, food isn’t just nourishment — it’s a story. A story of the land, the sea, and the people who call Mawella home. Our menus are shaped by what’s fresh, what’s local, and what’s grown right here in our own ¼-acre organic garden. From herbs and spices to vegetables and garnishes, our garden plays a starring role in the dishes and drinks we create.
This is food that connects — to place, to purpose, and to people.

Our Restaurant
Illuk is unfussy yet refined, our open-air restaurant offers a seasonally changing menu that highlights the vibrant flavors of Sri Lanka, influenced by global techniques and ingredients. We work closely with local farmers, fishermen, and food producers, many of whom are part of our foundation projects, to bring you honest, beautifully crafted dishes — always fresh, always thoughtful. We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, with menus that evolve based on what’s in season, what’s just been caught, and what’s growing in our garden.
Highlights:
- Daily changing menus based on what’s available and in season
- Ingredients sourced from our own garden, village farms, and nearby fisheries
- A selection of Sri Lankan classics and globally inspired plates
- Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options always available
- Plastic-free, conscious kitchen operations (only backend exceptions for hygiene)
